Our vision at ALC Contractors is to build you the highest quality custom home, addition, garage or carriage house possible. We build and remodel so that luxury coexists with being environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

With energy prices rising, finding ways to cut down on your home’s energy usage and using “green” products in the building of your home not only helps the environment, but makes economic sense. Hiring ALC Contractors is your first step in that direction. Owner Andrew Lohmeyer is a Certified Green Professional (CGP). The National Association of Home Builders’ Certified Green Professional Designation teaches builders, remodelers and other industry professionals techniques for incorporating green building principles into homes—without driving up the cost of construction.

We use engineered lumber and GreenGlass fiberglass-faced gypsum sheathing. Engineered lumber products are technologically superior to solid sawn materials. They efficiently use more of the tree, and have the best qualities of natural wood to gain greater strength and more uniform performance. GreenGlass delivers superior mold and moisture resistance necessary to protect your construction project from the elements, but it also provides unmatched levels of recycled content (at least 90%) to earn it credits in environmental rating systems like LEED and NAHB’s Green Building Standard.

Energy efficiency through insulation is one of the simplest and most cost effective ways to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. We use EcoBatt insulation. EcoBatt products save hundreds of times more energy use than is required to make them, and they’re made from renewable and abundant resources, such as recycled glass and sand.

Inside your house, we can install cork and bamboo flooring, as well as tankless water heaters, ENERGY STAR doors, windows and appliances. When it comes to heating and cooling, we use top of the line high efficiency systems, and can even provide you with a geothermal system. GeoComfort geothermal systems deliver the best in geothermal heating and cooling, delivering comfort, energy savings and a huge environmental benefit. Geothermal systems can save you 30% to 70% on your monthly utility bills. ALC Contractors owner Andrew Lohmeyer is in the process of installing a GeoComfort system on his own home that he is building.
